As Head of Sustainability, you will nourish our sustainability ambition & mission, create and implement the sustainability strategy, roadmaps, governance & processes for primary containers, devices, and packaging, in alignment with the company’s Environmental & Sustainability goals to achieve the company ambition to become industry leader. Being a complete new position for Sanofi, you will have to transform the organization mindset and create a culture where sustainability is part of the DNA.

Main responsibilities:

  • Elaborate, recommend, get endorsement and lead the long term (4-15 years) sustainability vision, strategy, guidelines and roadmaps for primary containers, devices & packaging in collaboration with multifunctional stakeholders (commercial, R&D, HSE, manufacturing sites, MSAT, QA, finance, supply, CMO, RA, Public Affairs…) and in alignment with the company’s Environmental & Sustainability goals.
  • Strategic advisor on critical sustainability initiatives to senior leadership. Provides critical information, advice, and guidance on business issues/implications across departments/work groups.
  • Translate the overall strategy into a project pipeline including prioritization.
  • Develop & implement system (process, tools, data) to track & report environmental performance.
  • Anticipate external stakeholder needs, certifications and regulatory frameworks evolution, earlier gap identification & closing – one touch to protect the business and become industry leader.
  • Help operationalize and integrate environmental sustainability into new product solutions, development processes with the ultimate goal of enabling GDPU teams in developing more environmentally sustainable products and solutions.
  • Work closely with the Sanofi’s Planet Care group, as well as internal and external partners to minimize our environmental impacts of products across their lifecycles.
  • Bring relevant sustainability insights (customers, patient, trade associations, NGOs, regulators etc.) to inform the strategy.
  • Scout the external environment for new environmental innovations in materials and solutions to be integrated in new product pipeline, leveraging his/her end to end pharmaceutical/chemical background (formulation, manufacturing, regulatory…).
  • Foster a culture of sustainability within GDPU and beyond through ongoing organizational communications, education and awards.
  • Set up the organization and be the place to be for talents.

About you

  • Master or PhD level qualification in a relevant scientific discipline
  • Minimum of 15+ years’ experience in driving sustainability strategy and initiatives within large Pharma/FMCG/FMCH companies with a proven sustainability strategy
  • Environmental Acumen and proven experience in product stewardship (including Life cycle assessment, environmental footprint, …)
  • International Business experience
  • Demonstrated ability to be a change agent, influence across functions and into external networks (trade associations, suppliers…), excellence in collaboration and flexible in the approach.
  • Languages: fluent in English, French is a plus.
